Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte

Kirsten MacKinnon
Canadian Opera Company

"Soprano Kirsten MacKinnon and mezzo Emily D’Angelo are the Fiordiligi and Dorabella of one’s dreams. How often do you find two singers who look like twins and sing like angels? This piece really needs young singers like the four we have here, with youthful energies aplenty. The sophomoric shenanigans they’re asked to do don’t seem forced with these young artists.  Soprano MacKinnon, now an Oper Frankfurt “fest artist,” sang both “Come scoglio” and “Per pieta” with silvery tone."

Joseph So, Ludwig Van Toronto, 6 February 2019

"Kirsten MacKinnon as Fiordiligi and Ben Bliss as Ferrando were the vocal revelations of the evening. MacKinnon was of fine and crystal clear voice from the start and then, masterly and free in the second half—her “Per pietà” was especially memorable. Hearing her elegant embellishments here and there was a bonus reward."

Lydia Perović, Opera Canada, 12 February 2019

Soprano Kirsten MacKinnon turns in a commanding performance as Fiordiligi. In her Act I aria “Come scolglio,” a notoriously challenging one in the soprano repertoire, she effortlessly flits between the low and the high notes. Her voice also blends beautifully with Mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo’s as Dorabella. Their harmonies hang in the air like the scent of sweet floral perfume.
